I'm an artist who knows there are many ways to tell compelling stories. As a playwright and librettist, I believe theatre is a distinct art form and its stories can only be told from the stage. I'm drawn to historical dramas, ensemble casts, archetypes, mythology, and the influence of powerful figures. My first love of theater is opera. I love the music, spectacle, and outsized emotion. It is not surprising that I bring these elements into my writing. I enjoy plays that are challenging and boldly theatrical. I would rather see a daring and flawed play, rather than one that is safe and only seeks to please.
